The role requires servicing, commissioning and fault diagnostics/repair of a range of electronic and mechanical process control instrumentation.
Requirement to travel throughout the UK overseas and possibly offshore
Periods of absence from home will be expected from time to time which will include overnight stays in hotels
To commission, calibrate and repair onsite instrumentation
To work in all industries within the company’s customer database
To liaise with the service co-ordinators to ensure that all spares, tools and paperwork is available to enable them to carry out their duties
On completion of the job contact the Service Co-ordinator to arrange or confirm the next site visit
To liaise with customers when required prior to executing the job to ensure full understanding of the nature of the job and also to advise estimated time of arrival and of any delays which may be anticipated
To adhere to site safety rules, permit to work systems and carry out risk assessments
To work to local and industry procedures and to comply with industry codes of practice and company quality management system
Maintain company equipment i.e.: laptop, car, tools etc.
To attend the technical helpline according to the rosta set by the co-ordinators which will include the 24-hour helpline
To promote the service department activities and develop new business opportunities according to the strategies and targets as set by the department manager and pass any leads to the local Sales Engineer
Provide services and support to other activities and departments and customers as deemed appropriate by the Field Services Manager
To assist the development and training of other engineers and workshop staff as required
Contact the service department daily with your whereabouts and job completions
Timely and accurate job reporting in accordance with company service report forms
Submit expense forms in accordance with company timescales
Abide by the Company’s policy document
Ideally qualified to NC/HNC level preferably in Electronics or instrumentation of control
Recognised apprenticeship in the above disciplines is ideal or minimum of 2 years Process Control experience

To be highly self-motivated and have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
A flexible approach to working activities
Excellent Communication skills, both verbally and written
The Ability to develop good working relationships with customers
