Application & Tool Development Engineer (RB2877)

Location:

Office based in South Yorkshire – however there will be the occasional times you will be required to visit customers on site so a full driving licence and willingness to travel is needed

 

Salary:

The salary range would be up to £40,000 for the less experienced candidate and up to £60,000 for a suitably qualified engineer with NX / Catia programming experience

Requirements:

The company are looking to grow their team and have a requirement for a minimum of 2 engineers (likely 3) in this role

  • The main requirements lean more towards manufacturing engineers, able to improve processes of producing high quality products, able to design new processes for introduction of new product or to improve an existing process
  • It is essential you are from a Shopfloor, CNC Programming, CNC Machining, Milling, Turning or a report writing background
  • Essential to be an excellent customer facing cutting tool application engineer
  • You will need to have the ability to programme in Siemens NX or Catia and hit the ground running  
  • The tooling application knowledge is more important than the machining (milling) although being able to machine would be an advantage
  • Flexible & responsive to change
  • Effective coaching, supporting and motivating, encourages a good team spirit
  • Engineering Degree with 5 Years industry experience
  • Project Management & Organisational Skills
  • Engineering Design and Product development
  • CAD / CAM skills and experience on systems such as NX, Catia, Powermill, Hypermill, etc.
  • Engineering Calculations

The Role:

  • Reporting to the MD
  • Responsible for the application of next generation tooling, machining techniques and associated technologies. Enable customers to use these techniques for immediate production
  • To provide input to optimise customer processes by enhancing production methods (to reduce customer cycle time and or reduce their tooling cost per component) without compromising quality
  • Responsible for translating the customer needs / concepts into efficient, market leading application solutions using the latest tooling designs
  • Liaise with tool production engineers and ensure products are optimized for the application and can be efficiently manufactured
  • To provide the company and the customer with engineering and technical support
  • To provide turnkey engineering services to the customer
  • Provide training in product use for customers
  • Document trials / experiments, tests and tooling development activities, write technical reports and evaluation reports, present to customer
  • Design, manufacture and evaluate products
  • Perform tool qualification and establish documentation to support implementation of new tooling into production
  • Programme and operate the machines within the tech centre
  • Prepare test pieces and clamping fixtures.
  • Housekeeping – ensuring that the tech centre is maintained at a high level of cleanliness and orderliness at all times.
  • Conversion of trial to production
  • Customer satisfaction
